7mm or 10mm?

Pick one thickness for the whole floor. Mixing 7mm and 10mm leaves a step that is a trip hazard.

Choose 7mm when

  • It is a home garage: car storage, DIY and a light workshop
  • Traffic is mostly foot traffic and your own vehicles
  • You use standard garage tools, trolley jacks and axle stands
  • Garage door clearance is tight: 7mm plus a ramp edge is typically 10–15mm

Choose 10mm when

  • Heavy equipment or machinery stands on the floor
  • Forklifts, pallet trucks or HGVs drive over it
  • You want the most impact absorption under dropped tools
  • It is a commercial workshop or industrial unit

Questions before you buy

Is 7mm thick enough for a garage?

Yes. 7mm suits most home garages with car storage, DIY and standard tools. Move up to 10mm only for heavy machinery or commercial and industrial loads.

Can I lay them over painted or cracked concrete?

Yes. Sweep the floor and lay the tiles straight over bare or painted concrete or existing tiles. The rigid tiles bridge imperfections up to 3mm. No grinding, priming or moisture testing.

How long does it take to lay a garage?

A single garage takes about 1.5–2 hours and a double 2–3 hours. Tiles click together by hand and edge tiles cut with a utility knife.

What if a tile gets damaged?

Lift the surrounding edges, take the damaged tile out and click a new one in. No contractor and no curing.

Are the tiles slippery when wet or oily?

No. The surface is R10 rated to DIN 51130, so it keeps its grip with water or oil on it. Spills stay on top and wipe off.

About mechanics garage floor tiles

Interlocking PVC floor tiles for independent garages and mechanics' workshops. Oil, gearbox fluid, brake cleaner and coolant stay on the surface and wipe off, the R10 textured surface (DIN 51130) gives grip, and the tiles carry a 5-tonne point load (BS EN ISO 24344) for jacks and lift pads.

Fit a bay at a time with no adhesive or cure time, and replace single tiles if they are damaged.
